Spokane Housing Authority Acquires Land for Affordable Housing Development

The Spokane Housing Authority (SHA) has acquired a seven-acre lot at 10003 E 4th Avenue in Spokane Valley. This strategic acquisition aims to address the critical need for affordable housing in the area. SHA plans to collaborate with a for-profit partner to develop the site into a residential community catering to households with incomes at or below 60% of the Area Median Income (AMI). Construction is scheduled to commence in fall 2025, with completion anticipated in spring 2027.

Spokane Valley Police Department Partners with Local Retailers to Deter Retail Theft

The Spokane Valley Police Department has partnered with local retailers to conduct a series of retail theft emphasis operations. On November 20, 2025, detectives collaborated with loss prevention employees from seven Spokane Valley retailers during a four-hour operation, resulting in nine arrests. The Spokane Valley City Council has authorized funds to specifically address this criminal activity and hold those committing retail theft accountable.

Spokane Valley Heritage Museum Celebrates 20 Years of Preserving History

The Spokane Valley Heritage Museum is celebrating its 20th anniversary of preserving and sharing the heritage of the Spokane Valley area and surrounding regions. The museum offers engaging, informational exhibits, introducing visitors to the people, places, and events that have shaped the Valley and surrounding areas. Established in 2005, the museum is located within the historic Opportunity Township Hall, which was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 2005.
