Springtastic Draws Families to Sunnymead Park
The city’s annual Springtastic celebration took place March 28 at Sunnymead Park, bringing families together for games, activities, and community booths. The event is part of Moreno Valley’s broader parks and recreation programming funded through the city’s two-year operating budget.
City officials have emphasized maintaining community events alongside core services, even as public safety and infrastructure costs continue to rise.
Budget and Capital Projects Remain in Focus
Moreno Valley is currently operating under its adopted Fiscal Years 2025/26 and 2026/27 budget. The balanced spending plan outlines continued investment in street improvements, facility maintenance, and long-term capital projects through the city’s Capital Improvement Program.
Infrastructure rehabilitation remains a priority, with funding allocated for roadway upkeep, public facilities, and utility-related improvements. Large construction contracts still require separate City Council approval as projects move from planning into implementation phases.
Transit and Housing Policy Changes Ahead
Looking ahead, statewide housing policy changes scheduled to take effect July 1, 2026, could influence development patterns near transit stations, including areas around the Moreno Valley/March Field Metrolink station. The legislation allows for higher-density residential development within a half-mile of major transit stops.
While no new local proposals were announced this week, city planners are expected to monitor how state law interacts with Moreno Valley’s general plan and zoning regulations in the months ahead.
