Weekend Events, Grand Opening and Protest Highlight Busy Days in Stockton

Stockton is heading into the weekend with a full slate of activity, from family-friendly events to community gatherings and civic engagement.

Grand Opening in South Stockton

A new community resource is officially opening its doors. The Jacob Mendez Resource Center celebrated its grand opening Friday afternoon on East Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard. The center is expected to offer support services and programming aimed at helping local families connect with housing, health and employment resources.

Community leaders and residents attended the ribbon-cutting, marking another investment in South Stockton neighborhoods.

Circus and Kings Bring Downtown Buzz

Entertainment also took center stage Friday night. The Rastelli Circus set up at the San Joaquin County Fairgrounds, drawing families for an evening under the big top.

Meanwhile, the Stockton Kings faced the Salt Lake City Stars at Adventist Health Arena, bringing basketball fans downtown. Restaurants and small businesses around the arena saw an uptick in foot traffic as fans made a night of it.

Protest Planned for March 20

Organizers also gathered Friday for a local protest event dubbed No Kings 3.0. The demonstration, promoted on community forums, focused on political concerns and civic participation. While turnout estimates were not immediately available, organizers encouraged peaceful engagement.

Family Event Saturday Morning

On Saturday, families are invited to attend Easter Play Day on Shaw Road. The morning event features games and activities geared toward children, adding a lighter note to a busy weekend across the city.

With public events, sports and community initiatives all happening at once, Stockton is seeing a lively start to spring.
