Youth Events, Zoo Program and Business Merger Lead Louisville Headlines

Louisville is balancing community conversations, family learning and long-term economic planning this week.

Youth Violence Prevention Week Events Continue

National Youth Violence Prevention Week activities are underway across Louisville, running March 23–29. Local youth groups are hosting discussions and family-focused events aimed at highlighting positive solutions and community support.

Events earlier this week included a youth services vendor fair and basketball tournament. A youth panel discussion is scheduled for Tuesday evening, bringing young leaders together to talk about safety, mentorship and prevention efforts.

Metro officials say recent data shows a downward trend in overall gun violence, but leaders continue to emphasize engagement and early intervention as key strategies.

Zoo Hosts Virtual ‘Conservation and Conversations’ Event

The Louisville Zoo is offering a virtual learning opportunity this afternoon. At 2 p.m., the Zoo’s ‘Conservation and Conversations’ series will focus on the book Beaverland: How One Weird Rodent Made America.

The program explores the ecological impact of beavers and broader conservation themes. The event is part of the Zoo’s lifelong learning programming and is open to the public online.

‘One Louisville’ Business Merger Takes Effect

A major shift in Louisville’s economic development landscape became official this month with the launch of ‘One Louisville.’ The new organization combines Greater Louisville Inc. and the Louisville Economic Development Alliance.

The merger, approved by both boards in late February and effective March 1, creates a single regional chamber and economic development entity. Supporters say the move is designed to streamline business recruitment, workforce development and long-term growth strategy across Jefferson County and the surrounding region.

City leaders describe the consolidation as a structural reset aimed at strengthening Louisville’s competitiveness in attracting new employers and investment.
