Grand Rapids schedules Aug. 3 absentee tabulation ahead of Aug. 4 primary
The City of Grand Rapids Clerk’s Office scheduled early absentee-ballot tabulation for Monday, Aug. 3, one day before the city’s Tuesday, Aug. 4, 2026 primary election.
The processing is an election-administration step before Election Day, not the release of election results. The city lists the tabulation location as 1120 Monroe NW, Suite 110.
Absentee-ballot processing before Election Day
Grand Rapids’ election information identifies Aug. 4 as the next city election. The Aug. 3 tabulation schedule is part of the city’s final pre-election operations for absentee ballots.
The city also said that some scheduled absentee-tabulation days could be canceled if all absentee ballots received by that point had already been processed. That contingency concerns the processing schedule and does not indicate an irregularity or establish that vote totals were publicly available before Election Day.
The available city information does not provide a same-day total for absentee ballots returned or processed. It also does not include turnout figures, candidate-specific figures or race-by-race information.
Registration option remains open
The ordinary deadline to register by mail or online was July 20. However, voters may register in person with proof of residency from July 21 through Election Day, according to the city.
That in-person process remains the available registration route for people who did not meet the mail or online deadline. The city’s published guidance specifically requires proof of residency for registration during that period.
The registration timeline is separate from the completed early-voting period. Early voting ran from July 25 through Aug. 2, with daily hours varying by date.
Ballot-access information
Grand Rapids lists eight ballot drop-box locations for the election. The sites include Grand Rapids City Hall, library locations and Ottawa Hills High School.
With early voting concluded, the scheduled absentee-ballot tabulation is the next listed administrative step before the Aug. 4 primary. The city’s election page provides the dates, registration information, drop-box listings and processing schedule, but the approved material does not identify specific contests, candidates or polling-place incidents.
The next confirmed event is Election Day on Tuesday, Aug. 4. Voters seeking to register after the standard deadline must use the city’s in-person registration process and provide proof of residency through that day.
