Scholarship supports nature-focused students

A new scholarship from a local garden club is giving Roselle students a chance to turn their passion for the environment into help with college costs. The group is offering one $1,000 award for the 2026–27 school year to a resident pursuing studies in fields like botany, horticulture, ecology, environmental science, or sustainability.

High school seniors and current college students are eligible, as long as they live in the community and are working toward a degree tied to nature, conservation, or landscape-related careers. Applications are being collected online, and the deadline to apply is March 15, giving students several weeks to gather recommendations and polish their essays.

Residents invited to comment on county water quality plan

Roselle is part of a wider DuPage County partnership focused on keeping local streams and waterways clean. County stormwater officials are currently asking for public input on their Countywide Water Quality Program, which guides education, monitoring, and pollution-prevention work across 41 communities.

Residents can review program materials and submit feedback through mid-February. Comments will help shape how the county and its partner towns prioritize projects, from stormwater system maintenance to public outreach on runoff and household pollution.
