Big music weekend at The Rust Belt

East Moline’s music venue The Rust Belt is in the spotlight this weekend with back-to-back concerts drawing fans from across the Quad Cities. On Friday night, country artist Jackson Dean headlined a 7:30 p.m. show, adding another major tour stop to the venue’s busy calendar.

Tonight, The Four Horsemen, a Metallica tribute act focused on the band’s early albums, are set to take the stage at 8 p.m., with doors opening at 7 p.m. The all-ages show continues The Rust Belt’s role as a regional anchor for live music and helps feed foot traffic to nearby businesses at The Bend and the growing riverfront district.

Rotary blood drive boosts local supply

On Friday afternoon, the Rotary Club of East Moline and Silvis partnered with ImpactLife for a community blood drive at the Silvis Fire Department. The event, listed on the regional events calendar, gave residents a convenient way to donate and support hospitals that rely on a steady blood supply going into the late-winter months.

Organizers framed the drive as a simple but meaningful way to give back, especially for neighbors who may not be able to volunteer time but can make an appointment to donate. Similar drives are expected to continue through the year as demand for blood products remains high.

City notes: water alert and planning survey

The city’s alert center shows no new citywide emergencies, but a precautionary boil order remains in place for customers near 35 1/2th Avenue following a recent water main break. Residents in the affected area are being advised to boil water for five minutes or use bottled water for drinking and cooking until the order is lifted by the city.

City leaders are also encouraging residents to weigh in on the ongoing update to the East Moline Comprehensive Plan. An online survey, which takes about 10 minutes and is anonymous, asks residents to identify community strengths, priority services, and ideas for future growth. Feedback from the survey will help guide development, transportation, and quality-of-life investments over the next decade.

Looking ahead
