40-year sentence in a fatal Virginia Beach robbery
A Portsmouth man was sentenced to 40 years to serve in connection with a deadly robbery in Virginia Beach in September 2024. Court records and prosecutors described an attempted robbery that ended in gunfire, followed by a crash as the suspect fled, authorities said.
Search-warrant arrest after drugs and a gun recovered
Police said officers executed a search warrant in the 700 block of Seahawk Circle after investigating suspected illegal marijuana distribution. Investigators reported recovering large quantities of marijuana and THC products, along with psilocybin mushrooms and a firearm. A Virginia Beach man was arrested and faces multiple drug and firearm-related charges, police said.

Earlier curfew for unaccompanied minors starts March 19
The city says a new curfew schedule begins March 19 for unaccompanied minors under 18, moving the start time earlier to 10 p.m. and running until 5 a.m. The change was approved by City Council earlier this month and is intended to reduce late-night incidents involving teens.
