Officer-involved shooting under investigation
Greensboro police are investigating an early-Thursday incident that began as a domestic disturbance call and escalated into gunfire. Police said officers responded to Orchard Street just after midnight, located a suspect, and reported the suspect fired at officers before fleeing in a vehicle.
Police said shots were fired again during a brief pursuit, and the suspect later returned to the area and continued firing. Officers returned fire, striking the suspect, who was taken to a hospital. No officers were reported injured, and the involved officers were placed on administrative duty while reviews proceed.
Downtown adds a new live entertainment spot
A new venue called The Pyrle is opening in downtown Greensboro in the revitalized former Triad Stage building on South Elm Street. The venue is billed as a 1,000-capacity space aimed at bringing touring artists and other programming to the center city.
