Crash Closes Warm Springs as Big West Tournament Tips Off in Henderson

A busy week in Henderson brought emergency road closures, college basketball crowds and a fresh look at local traffic enforcement efforts.

Crash Shuts Down Warm Springs

Henderson Police are investigating a crash Wednesday afternoon near Warm Springs and Eastgate roads.

Authorities say a driver struck a pedestrian just before 3 p.m. Both the driver and the pedestrian were taken to a local hospital. Their conditions have not been publicly confirmed.

Warm Springs was closed in both directions for several hours as officers processed the scene. Police urged drivers to avoid the area and expect delays.

Big West Tournament Underway

Meanwhile, Lee’s Family Forum is welcoming teams and fans for the 2026 Big West Conference women’s basketball tournament.

The four-day event, running March 11 through March 14, brings eight teams to Henderson with an automatic NCAA tournament berth on the line. City officials have highlighted the economic boost from visitors filling hotels and restaurants during the competition.

Games are being streamed nationally, putting Henderson’s arena and hospitality scene in the spotlight.

No DUI Arrests in Enforcement Push

Henderson Police also reported results from their latest Joining Forces traffic campaign, which wrapped up in late February and was detailed this week.

Officers stopped 277 drivers during the enforcement period. While citations were issued for speeding and other violations, police reported no DUI arrests connected to the crackdown.

The department says the goal of the grant-funded effort is visibility and prevention, especially following a series of high-profile crashes across the valley earlier this year.
