Nevada DMV shifting Henderson services to Silverado Ranch: what drivers should know
Henderson NV residents are getting a heads-up: the Nevada DMV says its Silverado Ranch facility is on track for Fall 2026, with Henderson and CDL services relocating.
Henderson drivers and CDL customers are getting a heads-up from the Nevada Department of Motor Vehicles: its new Silverado Ranch facility is on track to open in Fall 2026, and the department says the move will bring permanent changes to the current in-person offices.
In a DMV news release published July 16, 2026, the agency said that while it has not finalized an exact opening date, it expects to announce the timing once construction is complete and the building is ready.
Whatโs changing for Henderson drivers
DMV says the Henderson office on American Pacific Drive will permanently close and relocate to the Silverado Ranch area once the new building opens. The DMVโs office locations page lists the current Henderson address as 1399 American Pacific Dr., Henderson, NV 89074.
Whatโs changing for CDL customers
DMV also says its Commercial Driver License (CDL) office on Donovan Way will permanently close and relocate to the same Silverado Ranch facility when it opens.
Where the new Silverado Ranch DMV will be
KTNV reports the Silverado Ranch location will be at 9850 S Valley View Boulevard, just south of W Silverado Ranch Boulevard. DMV also describes the new building as its largest facility in Nevada, equipped with more counters, four outside walk-up kiosks, and two drive-through kiosks for after-hours convenience.
Why DMV is consolidating
DMV Director Tonya Laney said the decision is driven by funding constraintsโincluding that the agency doesnโt have the ability to support additional facilities, staffing, and operating costs. DMV also said the move is intended to replace an aging and outgrown Henderson facility with a single modern location designed to better serve Southern Nevadaโs growing population.
What Henderson residents should do now
Because the Henderson office closure is tied to the Silverado Ranch opening, DMVโs practical near-term advice is to plan ahead nowโespecially if you rely on in-person help.
1) Use DMV online services when possible.
DMV said many transactions can be handled without visiting an office, including registration renewals, license or ID card renewals, registration duplicates, address changes, and driver history printouts.
2) Consider nearby AAA locations for select tasks.
For people who prefer in-person assistance closer to the Henderson area, DMV says select services are available at nearby AAA locationsโsuch as vehicle registration, moving permit issuance, and duplicate titles at participating offices.
The DMVโs office locations page lists Henderson-area AAA locations including 1511 West Sunset Road and 1000 North Green Valley Parkway, Suite 620, and it also notes AAA does not handle items like VIN inspections, emissions exemptions, mailed transactions, or title transfers.
3) Watch for DMV updates as the Fall 2026 opening approaches.
DMV says the Fall 2026 timeline is still a target and that it will announce the exact opening date later. Treat now as your planning windowโthen confirm details when DMV publishes further updates.
Bottom line: start planning for a consolidated DMV experience once Silverado Ranch opens, and donโt wait until the last minute if you need in-person services during the transition.
