Carrie Cox’s Henderson trial set for February 2027
Henderson Councilwoman Carrie Cox’s criminal trial is scheduled to begin February 8, 2027, after District Court Judge Nadia Krall granted her request for a continuance at an October 6, 2026, hearing. The trial had been set to start October 19, 2026, moving the scheduled start nearly four months later.
Cox’s attorney, Joshua Tomsheck, filed the motion on September 17 and cited a scheduling conflict with an older case. Prosecutors did not oppose the request. Chief Deputy District Attorney Autin Beaumont described the prosecution’s position as professional courtesy and said the election was not a factor in its decision not to oppose the continuance.
Cox is seeking re-election in Henderson’s November 3, 2026, election, and the scheduled trial start comes after the vote. The timing alone does not establish that the election prompted Cox’s request or the judge’s ruling. Beaumont’s comment addressed the prosecution’s decision not to oppose the motion.
The charge remains unresolved
Cox faces one felony count of monitoring or attempting to monitor a private conversation. She has pleaded not guilty, and the charge remains an allegation. The continuance changes the trial schedule; it does not decide whether Cox committed the alleged conduct.
The case had already been set to proceed toward trial after Krall denied a defense motion challenging the charge in February 2026, FOX5 Las Vegas reported. The October ruling concerns scheduling, not the merits of that challenge or Cox’s guilt. The case remains pending.
Tomsheck’s September motion also said the parties were discussing a possible resolution. The motion did not disclose terms, and the reported discussions do not establish that an agreement was reached. No resolution is described in the reporting on the continuance.
February 8, 2027, is the scheduled trial start. The change moves the trial setting from before Henderson’s November election to after it, while leaving the criminal charge unresolved.
