The City of Henderson and Purple Heart Veterans Chapter 730 held the city’s annual National Purple Heart Day ceremony Friday, Aug. 7, at Purple Heart Plaza in downtown Henderson.

The ceremony was scheduled for 8 a.m. at the plaza, located at 101 Market St., Henderson, Nevada 89015. The city’s event listing identified the purpose as recognizing National Purple Heart Day and honoring veterans who sacrificed in service to the nation.

A local observance at Purple Heart Plaza i

Henderson hosted the ceremony in partnership with Purple Heart Veterans Chapter 730. That made the event a city-supported observance with a named veterans organization and a specific public location in downtown Henderson.

The event was a local civic recognition of combat-wounded veterans. The approved information does not identify individual veterans who attended, provide a count of participants or describe remarks delivered during the ceremony. Those details are not being added because no post-event account in the source material confirms them.

The city’s listing established the event’s date, time, location, host organizations and stated purpose. FOX5 Las Vegas independently confirmed that Henderson’s ceremony was planned for Aug. 7 at Purple Heart Plaza.

Separate from Henderson’s Purple Heart City designation i

The Aug. 7 ceremony was not a new designation for Henderson. The city became Nevada’s first Purple Heart City in January 2014, according to FOX5 Las Vegas.

That distinction provides the longer-term context for the annual observance. Henderson’s Purple Heart City status dates to January 2014, while the ceremony was the city’s annual National Purple Heart Day event held more than a decade later.

Keeping those developments separate is important. The 2014 designation describes Henderson’s civic status. The Aug. 7, 2026, ceremony was a scheduled and subsequently reported city event recognizing National Purple Heart Day and veterans who sacrificed in service to the nation.

What residents can confirm i

The available records confirm that the City of Henderson and Purple Heart Veterans Chapter 730 acted as partners; that the ceremony took place at Purple Heart Plaza; and that the scheduled start time was 8 a.m. on Friday, Aug. 7, 2026.

The address listed for the venue was 101 Market St., Henderson, Nevada 89015. The location gives residents a precise point for the city’s public observance and ties the ceremony to a named downtown Henderson site rather than to an unspecified city event.

The source packet does not provide an attendance figure, the exact number of participating veterans, individual speakers or a detailed account of what occurred during the ceremony. It also does not identify an additional follow-up event or next deadline connected to the observance.

For now, the verified local development is the annual ceremony itself: a Henderson-hosted event held with Purple Heart Veterans Chapter 730 to mark National Purple Heart Day, in a city whose Purple Heart City designation dates back to January 2014.
