Paterson Starts $1.8 Million Foot-Patrol Program in Business Corridors

Paterson has begun adding off-duty police officers to selected business clusters and commercial corridors through a new foot-patrol program funded with $1.8 million in Urban Enterprise Zone money.

The city announced the Paterson on Patrol initiative June 25, and the additional foot patrols began July 1. The program is intended to make police more visible in commercial areas while supporting local businesses and addressing public-safety and quality-of-life concerns.

How the program works

The patrols place off-duty officers on foot in selected commercial corridors. The Paterson UEZ described the initiative as an effort to expand police presence in commercial corridors.
