Arizona’s 52 points send West Virginia to third straight loss
Arizona defeated West Virginia 52-31 at Milan Puskar Stadium in Morgantown on Oct. 10, 2026, extending the Mountaineers’ losing streak to three games. West Virginia had more total yards and first downs, but Arizona scored 28 points in the second half and took advantage of two WVU fumbles.
The result left West Virginia 3-3 overall and 0-3 in Big 12 play. Arizona improved to 5-1 overall and 2-1 in the conference. WVU’s three consecutive losses came on Sept. 26, Oct. 3 and Oct. 10.
Arizona kept scoring after halftime
The Wildcats opened with 14 points in the first quarter while West Virginia scored three. WVU responded with 14 in the second quarter, but Arizona added 10 to take a 24-17 halftime lead. Both teams scored 14 in the third quarter; Arizona then added another 14 in the fourth, while the Mountaineers scored seven.
That second-half scoring difference widened Arizona’s lead even as West Virginia continued to move the ball. The Wildcats finished with 482 total yards, compared with 522 for WVU. The Mountaineers also had 30 first downs to Arizona’s 20, but the yardage and first-down edges did not overcome the scoring gap.
