North Las Vegas dedicates firefighter training center
The North Las Vegas Fire Department dedicated a new training center on Oct. 13, establishing a local site for recruit instruction and continuing firefighter training. The facility brings together indoor classroom space, outdoor training grounds and an ambulance simulator.
The center is in the Brooks Avenue and Martin Luther King Boulevard area of North Las Vegas. Local reporting describes about 5,200 square feet of classrooms and approximately six acres of grounds. The indoor and outdoor areas give the department separate settings for classroom instruction and practical training.
Reported outdoor features include a burn box and a pad for live-fire training. The ambulance simulator recreates the rear compartment of a fire-department rescue unit, giving trainees a setting modeled on the interior of an emergency vehicle. The center is intended for both recruits and firefighters taking part in continuing training.
First academy class scheduled for Oct. 19
The departmentโs first academy class at the center was scheduled to begin Oct. 19, with 13 recruits. The start date was a planned next step following the Oct. 13 dedication; the class had not yet begun when the center was dedicated.
A four-story burn tower is also planned as a later addition, targeted for early 2027. It was not a completed feature of the center at the dedication. The tower would add to the facilityโs reported training spaces, which currently include the classrooms, grounds, burn box, live-fire pad and ambulance simulator.
