It’s a busy stretch in Glendale as national sports, community advocacy and local philanthropy converge across the city.
All-American Spotlight at Desert Diamond Arena
Glendale is preparing to welcome some of the nation’s top high school basketball talent as the 2026 McDonald’s All-American Boys and Girls Games tip off March 31 at Desert Diamond Arena.
The annual showcase features 24 elite players in each game, selected from hundreds of nominees nationwide. The event is expected to draw fans, families and college scouts to the West Valley, providing a notable economic and tourism boost just ahead of April’s packed event calendar.
Freedom Festival Set for Saturday
This Saturday, March 28, the Glendale Civic Center East Parking Lot will host the Arizona Freedom Festival 2026. Organizers say the outdoor event will feature vendors, advocacy groups and exhibits focused on Second Amendment issues and outdoor recreation.
City officials anticipate increased traffic in the downtown area throughout the day as attendees gather from across the region.
Sunshine Angels Mark 20 Years
On Tuesday, supporters turned out at PopStroke in the Westgate Entertainment District for a 20-year anniversary fundraiser benefiting Arizona Sunshine Angels. The nonprofit supports children in foster care and group homes throughout the Valley.
A portion of proceeds from mini golf sales was directed to the organization, helping fund programs that provide essentials and enrichment opportunities for vulnerable youth.
With a nationally televised sporting event on deck, a large-scale weekend festival and continued community fundraising efforts, Glendale closes out March with strong momentum heading into spring.
