Bridgeport bicyclist hospitalized after hit-and-run

A vehicle struck a bicyclist near Sanford Place and Washington Avenue in Bridgeport on Oct. 19, 2026, and the driver fled. The bicyclist was hospitalized with head trauma, and police were investigating.
The Connecticut Post reported that officers and firefighters responded at about 5:40 p.m. WFSB described the crash as happening around that time. Those accounts do not establish the exact time of impact, so 5:40 p.m. should not be treated as a confirmed crash time.
Bridgeport spokesperson Shawnna White said the bicyclist was in stable condition Monday night. That update describes the person’s condition that evening.
