Police Pursuit Leads to Shooting in Spring Valley

On January 29, 2026, a Chula Vista police pursuit concluded in Spring Valley with an officer-involved shooting. The incident began around 5:30 p.m. when officers responded to a domestic violence call involving a firearm. The suspect fled, leading officers on a pursuit that ended when he collided with another vehicle in Spring Valley. After crashing, the suspect fired several rounds at officers. In response, an officer and a sergeant returned fire, striking the suspect in the leg. He was transported to a local hospital with non-life-threatening injuries and later booked into jail on charges including attempted murder of a police officer.
