Costco Deal Heads to City Leaders

City leaders are set to consider a purchase and sale agreement with Costco Wholesale for nearly 23 acres in the Southern Grove area. The proposal calls for a 170,000-square-foot warehouse store and gas station next to a distribution depot already under construction.

The item is scheduled for discussion at a Governmental Finance Corporation meeting on Monday at City Hall. If approved, the agreement would clear the way for the long-anticipated retailer to move forward. A Costco location has been one of the most requested additions from residents in recent years.

Mets Host Yankees at Clover Park

Spring training continues today as the New York Mets take on the New York Yankees at Clover Park. First pitch is set for 1:10 p.m., drawing one of the largest crowds of the preseason.

The matchup brings an extra buzz to St. Lucie West, with fans from across the Treasure Coast and beyond filling local restaurants and hotels. Traffic around the stadium is expected to remain steady through the afternoon.

Residents Turn Out for Cleanup Day

On Saturday, St. Lucie County residents participated in a household hazardous waste collection event in Port St. Lucie. The drive allowed people to safely dispose of items such as old paint, chemicals and electronics.

City officials said the event helps keep harmful materials out of landfills and waterways while giving residents a convenient way to declutter responsibly. Another collection date is planned later this year.
