DuPage County prosecutors announced charges against Arterria Lipsey and Shataya Connor over an alleged clothing theft at Napervilleโs Alo Yoga store. A judge granted the stateโs request to detain Lipsey before trial; Connor was released on her own recognizance, according to the county.
Prosecutors say Naperville police responded at about 7:15 p.m. on October 19, 2026, to a reported burglary and retail theft at the store, 19 W. Jefferson Avenue. They allege Lipsey, 32, and Connor, 28, took clothing without paying. The county puts the merchandiseโs approximate retail value at $1,694.
The county says the women were later traveling east on I-290 when an Elmhurst police officer encountered them. During the ensuing pursuit, the vehicle reached about 82 mph, prosecutors say. The pursuit ended on southbound I-294 after the vehicle drove over spike strips deployed by Oak Brook police. The county announced the charges and Lipseyโs detention on October 20.
Different charges and pretrial outcomes
The charging lists and pretrial decisions differ. Lipsey is charged with one count each of aggravated fleeing and eluding, burglary and retail theft, along with multiple misdemeanor and petty traffic offenses. Connor is charged with one count each of burglary and retail theft. The county says the judge granted the stateโs motion to detain Lipsey, while Connor was released on her own recognizance on October 20.
That distinction describes the defendantsโ current pretrial status, not a finding about who committed the alleged theft or pursuit. The county says the charges are not proof of guilt and that both defendants are presumed innocent. The allegations have not been adjudicated.
The county lists Connorโs next court appearance for November 10, 2026, and Lipseyโs for November 16. Those dates are the next appearances identified by prosecutors for the two cases.
