Structure Fire on Paxton Drive

On January 29, 2026, at 11:39 a.m., the Naperville Fire Department responded to a report of an exterior fire at a single-family residence in the 1800 block of Paxton Drive. The fire, which began in a refuse container against the home, extended to the attic area. The sole occupant had safely evacuated prior to the fire department’s arrival. Firefighters quickly suppressed the blaze, preventing further damage. The residence was deemed uninhabitable, with estimated damages exceeding $100,000. The fire was determined to be accidental in nature. No injuries were reported. The Naperville Fire Department was assisted on scene by the Naperville Police Department, the Lisle-Woodridge Fire District, the Aurora Fire Department, the Naperville Electric Department, and the Naperville Transportation, Engineering, and Development Department.

Serious Traffic Incident on Broadway Street

On January 28, 2026, at 6:51 p.m., a multi-vehicle crash occurred at the intersection of North Broadway Street and Ingalls Avenue. A 31-year-old driver lost control of their vehicle, crossing into oncoming traffic and colliding head-on with another vehicle. The crash involved four vehicles in total, resulting in serious injuries to the drivers of the first two vehicles. The roadway was closed for several hours as traffic investigators reconstructed the scene. The incident remains under investigation.
