FAMU seeks planner for 2025-35 campus master-plan update
Florida A&M University is seeking a planning consultant to update its campus master plan and campus development agreement, with proposals due Friday, August 7, 2026, at 2:30 p.m.
FAMU posted Request for Proposals 0012-2026 on June 26, 2026. The solicitation seeks professional planning services for a 2025-2035 campus master-plan update covering the universityโs main campus and Innovation Park in Tallahassee, along with other FAMU properties.
What the plan update would cover
The proposed work would build on FAMUโs existing 2020-2030 master plan and develop a planning framework for the next decade. Required elements include future land use, academic and support facilities, housing, transportation, infrastructure, conservation, recreation and open space, intergovernmental coordination and capital improvements.
The consultant also would review the existing campus development agreement and prepare an updated agreement for submission to the City of Tallahassee. The RFP calls for coordination with host-community agencies, including the city, as the university evaluates proposed facilities, development impacts and regulatory requirements.
For Tallahassee residents, workers and students, those subjects could eventually affect how FAMU evaluates buildings, housing, pedestrian and vehicle circulation, utilities, recreation space and capital improvements. At this stage, however, the solicitation identifies planning topics; it does not approve a specific development change.
Public review would come later in the process
The RFPโs planning scope includes meetings, workshops and public hearings as the consultant develops the conceptual, draft and final plan and the updated campus development agreement. The document also says that any public meetings specifically associated with the procurement will be announced on FAMUโs Bonfire procurement website if the university decides to hold them.
The immediate milestone is the proposal opening deadline: Friday, August 7, 2026, at 2:30 p.m. FAMU has not selected a consultant through this solicitation. The university reserves the right to reject any or all proposals, cancel or withdraw an award, or proceed without negotiations.
No construction project is approved
RFP 0012-2026 is for planning services, not construction. It does not authorize a new building, demolition, student-housing project, road change, utility project or expansion of FAMU Way.
Any future project would require separate decisions, funding, permitting or other approvals. A completed master-plan update and campus development agreement could guide those later discussions, but the procurement itself does not commit FAMU or the City of Tallahassee to build a particular facility or infrastructure project.
The current 2020-2030 campus master plan remains the baseline while FAMU seeks proposals for the 2025-2035 update.
