Tallahassee voters face Aug. 18 primary as early voting begins Saturday
Tallahassee voters have five days before early voting begins for the Aug. 18, 2026, primary. The Leon County Supervisor of Elections lists 10 early-voting sites available from Aug. 8 through Aug. 16.
Registered Leon County voters may use any early-voting location. That differs from Election Day, when voters must go to their assigned polling place.
Key dates
- Aug. 6: Deadline to request that a vote-by-mail ballot be mailed.
- Aug. 8-16: Early voting.
- Aug. 18: Primary Election Day.
Voters may request a vote-by-mail ballot online, by phone, in person at the Leon County Elections Center or by mail. No excuse or reason is required. Voters may also pick up a vote-by-mail ballot in person through Election Day.
What is on the Tallahassee ballot
The official qualified-candidate list includes four candidates for Tallahassee mayor, six candidates for City Commission Seat 3 and three candidates for Seat 5. The elections office lists the mayoral contest as Tallahassee City Commissioner, Seat 4/Mayor.
Mayor: Loranne Ausley, Michael Shawn Foust, Jeremy Matlow and Daryl D. Parks.
City Commission Seat 3: Darryl “Dar Wavemaker” Alfred, Tom Derzypolski, Talethia O. Edwards, Maxwell “Max” Herrle, P.J. Perez and Norm Roche.
City Commission Seat 5: Tifany Hill, Dot Inman-Johnson and Dianne Williams-Cox.
Not every Leon County voter will have the same municipal contests. Voters should check their individual sample ballot and party affiliation before voting.
Early-voting locations and hours
The elections office lists these 10 early-voting sites for Aug. 8-16:
- Leon County Courthouse, 301 S. Monroe St. — 8 a.m. to 4 p.m.
- Leon County Elections Center, 2990-1 Apalachee Parkway — 8:30 a.m. to 6 p.m.
- Bruce J. Host Northeast Branch Library, 5513 Thomasville Road — 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.
- Dr. B.L. Perry Jr. Branch Library, 2817 S. Adams St. — 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.
- Eastside Branch Library, 1583 Pedrick Road — 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.
- FAMU Student Union, 1628 Martin Luther King Jr. Blvd. — 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.
- Fort Braden Community Center, 16387 Blountstown Highway — 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.
- FSU Student Union, 75 N. Woodward Ave. — 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.
- Lake Jackson Community Center, 3840 N. Monroe St. — 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.
- Woodville Community Center, 8000 Old Woodville Road — 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.
Each early-voting site has a secure ballot intake station for Leon County vote-by-mail ballots. Drop-offs are accepted during that site’s posted voting hours.
Election Day rules and voter ID
On Tuesday, Aug. 18, voters must use their assigned polling place. The location can be found through the voter information lookup tool, on a voter information card or by calling the elections office.
For in-person voting during early voting or on Election Day, voters must present a physical, current and valid photo identification that includes a signature. Voters without acceptable identification may use a provisional ballot.

The Supervisor of Elections recommends using its voter information lookup tool to confirm registration details, party affiliation, sample ballot and assigned polling place. The office also provides sample ballots for the 2026 primary and ballot-status tracking through BallotTrax.
