Tallahassee canceled outdoor sports as some storm sites reopened
Tallahassee canceled outdoor athletic practices and games scheduled for Friday evening, Oct. 9, and Saturday, Oct. 10, 2026, during its response to Hurricane Isaias. The City’s initial schedule said pools, tennis and pickleball courts, Forestmeadows and The Meadows soccer complex would close Friday evening and reopen Monday, Oct. 12.
The initial notice also set a 5:30 p.m. Friday closure and Monday reopening for city-run community and service centers, including Palmer Munroe Teen Center, Trousdell Gymnastics Center, and the Monroe and Welaunee senior centers. Later updates listed Palmer Munroe and several other centers as open Saturday, Oct. 10.
The City also listed Trousdell Aquatics Center and Wade Wehunt Pool as open Sunday, Oct. 11. Its later updates did not establish Sunday status for every facility in the initial notice. Separately, WCTV reported that more than 37,000 City electric customers lost power and crews continued restoration work overnight and into Saturday.
