Frisco Extends Anthem Drive Closure at King Road by Two Months
Frisco officials have extended the closure of Anthem Drive at King Road for an estimated two additional months after contractors encountered unforeseen underground utility conflicts while completing paving work.

What changed for Frisco Lakes access
The closure affects the Anthem Drive connection between Frisco Lakes and King Road. Residents cannot use that route to enter or exit the neighborhood from King Road for as long as the closure remains in place.
For traffic traveling south on Anthem Drive, the city directed drivers to continue to West Stonebrook Parkway. That route is one of the alternatives identified in the city’s notice while the work at Anthem Drive and King Road is unfinished.
The city also listed a route through the adjacent Villages of Creekwood neighborhood and Drake Lane. That option allows residents to reach eastbound King Road without using the closed Anthem Drive connection.
Those instructions give drivers two specific ways to navigate around the closure: south on Anthem Drive toward West Stonebrook Parkway, or through the Villages of Creekwood neighborhood and Drake Lane toward eastbound King Road. The notice did not provide additional route details beyond those alternatives.
Why the closure was extended
According to the city, contractors encountered unforeseen conflicts involving underground utilities during the work. The issue affected the paving work associated with the closure and kept the road from reopening as previously planned.
The city estimated that the closure would continue for another two months. That is an estimate rather than a firm reopening commitment. The July 6 update did not identify a specific date when Anthem Drive would return to service.
