Gilbert-Area Gas and Diesel Prices Rise as Regular Hits $4.50
East Valley regular gas reached $4.502 and diesel $5.570 on July 31. A Gilbert station listed both fuels slightly below the regional averages.
Gas and diesel prices moved higher again across the East Valley on Friday, July 31, with regular gasoline reaching $4.502 per gallon and diesel climbing to $5.570, according to the latest AAA price check.
AAAโs figures are East Valley and Phoenix-Mesa regional averages, not official citywide averages for Gilbert. They provide a current market benchmark for local drivers, households and businesses.
Regular gasoline reaches $4.502
The East Valley regular-gas average rose 3.5 cents from $4.467 on Thursday. It was up 14 cents from a week earlier, when the average was $4.362, and up 59 cents from a month earlier, when it was $3.912.
For Gilbert households, the increase can add to the cost of commuting, school-related driving, errands and weekend travel. The effect is more noticeable for residents who drive long distances or fill larger vehicles.
Diesel climbs to $5.570
Diesel also rose, reaching $5.570 per gallon in the East Valley. That was 2.5 cents higher than Thursdayโs $5.545 average, 18 cents above the level from a week earlier and 63.9 cents above the month-ago average of $4.931.
Diesel prices matter beyond personal vehicles. Higher fuel costs can affect delivery routes, contractors, landscapers, service companies, restaurants that depend on deliveries and other businesses operating commercial vehicles. The regional diesel price remains substantially above regular gasoline, which can increase operating pressure for diesel-dependent fleets.
Gilbert station snapshot

National context
The U.S. Energy Information Administrationโs latest weekly update, released July 27, put the national average at $4.096 for regular gasoline and $5.313 for diesel for the week of July 27. Those figures are national weekly benchmarks, not current Gilbert prices.
