Traffic: I-40 backups after Friday morning crash

A crash on I-40 East near the South Elm-Eugene Street exit led to a lane closure and heavy backups on Friday morning. The lane was later cleared, but congestion lingered in the area as traffic worked back to normal. Officials had not released details on injuries or the number of vehicles involved.

Voting: Early voting just ended, Election Day is March 3

In-person early voting for North Carolina’s March primary wrapped up at 3 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 28. Voters who missed the early window can still vote on Tuesday, March 3, at their assigned precinct.

• Bring an acceptable photo ID, or use the state’s exception process if you do not have one.
• Primary ballots are party-specific, so expect to choose a ballot type based on your registration rules.

Air quality: Ozone season starts today across North Carolina

Starting Sunday, March 1, daily air-quality forecasts add ozone back into the mix through Oct. 31. Ground-level ozone tends to climb on warm, sunny days and can be tough on lungs, especially for kids, older adults, and people with asthma or other heart and lung conditions.

UNCG: Regular season ends with road loss, tournament next

UNC Greensboro closed the regular season Saturday night with an 87-78 loss at Samford. The Spartans had five players score in double figures, led by Lilian Marville with 21 points. Next up is the Southern Conference tournament in Asheville, with UNCG’s opening game scheduled for Friday, March 6.
