North Las Vegas Achieves Zero Traffic Deaths in Early 2026
North Las Vegas has reported zero traffic-related deaths as of January 29, 2026, a significant improvement from the 19 fatalities recorded in 2025. This 44% reduction in crashes is attributed to strategic changes within the police department’s traffic division.
Enhanced Traffic Division Leadership
Police Chief Jacqueline Gravatt highlighted the restructuring of the traffic division, including the appointment of a dedicated lieutenant to focus solely on traffic safety. This leadership shift has led to more targeted enforcement and improved road safety.
Statewide Collaboration and Data-Driven Enforcement
North Las Vegas police continue to participate in the statewide Joining Forces program, collaborating with other Nevada agencies to address specific traffic safety issues each month. Enforcement strategies are guided by data on crash and complaint trends, ensuring resources are deployed where they are most needed.
Regional Efforts to Reduce Fatalities
The Southern Nevada Traffic Task Force, launched in December 2025, brings together North Las Vegas and other law enforcement partners for joint operations. The task force has conducted thousands of traffic stops and issued over three thousand citations, contributing to the overall decline in fatalities.
Looking Ahead
While the early 2026 data is promising, officials remain committed to further enhancing road safety through continued strategic enforcement and community engagement.
