Oxnard Ramona students will start 2026-27 at four other campuses

Ramona Elementary students will not begin the 2026-27 school year at the Ramona campus after the Oxnard School District announced a temporary relocation tied to an ongoing facilities investigation.

The district announced the move July 27, 2026, saying students and staff will be assigned to four other schools while officials develop a longer-term plan for the Ramona site. The relocation is not being described as a permanent closure, and the district has not announced a timeline for repairs, reopening, or replacement.

Where Ramona students will attend

Student placements will be organized by grade:

• Transitional kindergarten and first grade: Lemonwood School
• Kindergarten: Driffill School
• Grades 2 and 3: Rose Avenue School
• Grades 4 and 5: César Chávez School

The district’s relocation notice says transportation, after-school programs, special education, biliteracy support, and other student services will continue. However, transportation routes and program arrangements were still being finalized as of July 27. The district said additional details were expected in an update by August 7, 2026.

Family meetings are scheduled

Families will have two scheduled opportunities to receive information and ask questions. The district plans a Zoom community meeting on July 30, 2026, and an in-person meeting on July 31, 2026.
