Oxnard Seeks HUD Release for $2 Million Food Share Project

The City of Oxnard has issued a finding of no significant impact for Food Share Ventura County’s proposed warehouse and headquarters and plans to ask the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development to release $2 million for the project.

The city published the environmental and funding notice on June 25, 2026. It said the request for release of the HUD Community Project Funding is planned for on or about July 24, 2026.

The action would direct federal community-development funding toward a facility intended to house Food Share’s warehouse and headquarters in Oxnard. Food Share Ventura County serves residents experiencing food insecurity, according to the city’s project notice.

Project details

The proposed Food Share Warehouse and Headquarters Project would be approximately 85,845 square feet on an approximately 9.7-acre site. The property consists of two vacant parcels at 1425 Mariner Drive and 1100 East Wooley Road, within the City of Oxnard.

The city’s notice identifies the funding as HUD Community Project Funding under the Economic Development Initiative program. The planned facility would consolidate the warehouse and headquarters functions identified in the proposal at the Oxnard site.

For the city, the immediate development is a federal funding and environmental-review step rather than a completed construction project. The notice establishes Oxnard’s intent to request release of the money; it does not establish that HUD has released the funds.

What the notice means

A finding of no significant impact is part of the city’s environmental process for the proposed project. Issuing that finding allows the city to move forward with the planned request, but it is not the same as announcing that the facility is built, fully funded or under construction.
