Palmdale City Council Filing Deadline Is Friday for Districts 3, 4 and 5
Prospective candidates for Palmdale City Council Districts 3, 4 and 5 have until 5 p.m. Friday, August 7, 2026, to file nomination documents for the city’s 2026 General Municipal Election.
The deadline applies to four-year council seats in each of the three districts. The election is scheduled for November 3, 2026, and will be consolidated with the Los Angeles County election process.
Where to file
Nomination documents must be filed with the Palmdale City Clerk’s Office at 38300 Sierra Highway, Suite C, Palmdale, California 93550.
The Clerk’s Office will open specifically for candidate filings on Friday, August 7, despite the city’s regular Friday closure. Special filing hours will be 7:30 a.m. to 5 p.m.
Prospective candidates should confirm the required nomination documents and filing procedures with the City Clerk before submitting paperwork.

If an incumbent councilmember in a district does not file nomination documents by 5 p.m. Friday, August 7, that district’s nomination period may be extended until 5 p.m. Wednesday, August 12, 2026.
The August 12 date is not a guaranteed citywide extension. It would apply only to a district in which the incumbent did not file by the regular deadline.

Palmdale’s next General Municipal Election is set for November 3, 2026. The city has approved consolidating the municipal election with Los Angeles County’s election process.
