Palmdale City Council Filing Deadline Is Friday for Districts 3, 4 and 5
Prospective candidates for Palmdale City Council Districts 3, 4 and 5 have until 5 p.m. Friday, August 7, 2026, to file nomination documents for the cityโs 2026 General Municipal Election.
The deadline applies to four-year council seats in each of the three districts. The election is scheduled for November 3, 2026, and will be consolidated with the Los Angeles County election process.
Where to file
Nomination documents must be filed with the Palmdale City Clerkโs Office at 38300 Sierra Highway, Suite C, Palmdale, California 93550.
The Clerkโs Office will open specifically for candidate filings on Friday, August 7, despite the cityโs regular Friday closure. Special filing hours will be 7:30 a.m. to 5 p.m.
Prospective candidates should confirm the required nomination documents and filing procedures with the City Clerk before submitting paperwork.
Seats on the ballot
The election information provided by the city lists these offices:
- District 3 councilmember โ four-year term
- District 4 councilmember โ four-year term
- District 5 councilmember โ four-year term
The City Clerk is Palmdaleโs local elections official and coordinates with Los Angeles County on municipal elections.
Possible district-specific extension
If an incumbent councilmember in a district does not file nomination documents by 5 p.m. Friday, August 7, that districtโs nomination period may be extended until 5 p.m. Wednesday, August 12, 2026.
The August 12 date is not a guaranteed citywide extension. It would apply only to a district in which the incumbent did not file by the regular deadline.
Election date
Palmdaleโs next General Municipal Election is set for November 3, 2026. The city has approved consolidating the municipal election with Los Angeles Countyโs election process.
Residents considering a council campaign should review the cityโs candidate guide and contact the City Clerkโs Office before filing. Nomination paperwork must be filed by 5 p.m. Friday, August 7, unless a district-specific extension is triggered under the applicable election rules.
