Polling Places Shift Ahead of June Primary

Thousands of South Bay voters will see changes to their usual polling spots for the June 2 primary election.

The Chula Vista Elementary School District has notified the county it cannot host 10 vote centers on its campuses due to sixth-grade promotion ceremonies and rehearsals. In the last major election, nearly 8,000 voters used those locations.

County officials say replacement sites are being finalized. Sweetwater Union High School District leaders have indicated they are prepared to offer space at their campuses to help fill the gap. A finalized list of vote centers is expected well before ballots are cast.

Veterans Home Hosts Local Job Fair

The Veterans Home of California in Chula Vista opened its doors Tuesday for a daylong job fair, drawing applicants for a range of positions at the state-run facility on East Naples Court.

The free event aimed to connect job seekers with on-site hiring teams and highlight career pathways serving local veterans. Organizers say recruitment remains a priority as facilities statewide work to maintain staffing levels.

Parent-Teacher Conferences Underway

Families in the Chula Vista Elementary School District are also in the middle of a series of minimum school days tied to parent-teacher conferences.

According to the district calendar, conferences run from March 12 through March 19, with adjusted dismissal times across campuses. Spring break follows later this month, beginning March 23.

With election planning, hiring efforts and school events all converging, it is a busy stretch for South Bay residents keeping track of civic and community updates.
