Storm Damage, Power Outages Lead Tulsa Headlines
Tulsa, OK – March 7, 2026 – Storm damage, power outages and weekend events lead today’s top Tulsa headlines as crews assess tornado impacts.
Storm Recovery Underway in North Tulsa
City and county crews are assessing damage after severe storms and a possible tornado moved through north Tulsa late Friday. The hardest-hit area stretches roughly between North Peoria Avenue and North Victor Avenue, from 36th Street North to 50th Street North.
Officials report downed power lines, roof damage and scattered debris. At the height of the storm, thousands of customers in Tulsa County were without electricity. Most service has since been restored, but some outages remain as of Saturday.
Emergency managers say residents should avoid impacted neighborhoods unless necessary and treat any downed lines as live. A damaged gas meter and underground leak were also reported during the initial response.
State Emergency Teams Assist with Damage Assessments
The Oklahoma Department of Emergency Management has staff in Tulsa County helping local agencies document damage and coordinate resources. Preliminary reports across the region indicate multiple tornado tracks Friday night, with structural damage to homes and public buildings.
While fatalities were reported south of Tulsa in Okmulgee County, no deaths have been confirmed within the city. Damage assessments, debris removal and power restoration efforts are continuing through the weekend.
Weekend Events Continue with Caution
Despite the stormy start, several community events are moving forward Saturday. The NatureWorks Art Show and Sale opened at the Marriott Southern Hills, featuring wildlife and landscape artists from across the country.
At Gathering Place, the monthly Pickin’ in the Park acoustic jam welcomed musicians and families earlier today, offering a relaxed setting after a tense night of weather alerts.
City leaders are encouraging residents to stay weather-aware, check on neighbors and give cleanup crews space to work as Tulsa heads into the remainder of the weekend.
