Tulsa Gas and Diesel Prices Ease, Still Well Above Last Month

Tulsa metro regular gas averaged $3.771 per gallon on August 1, down 3 cents from the previous day and 12 cents from a week earlier, according to AAA. Diesel averaged $4.797 per gallon, down less than 1 cent from yesterday and about 4 cents from last week.

The short-term easing gives drivers some relief compared with the previous check, when regular gas averaged $3.801 and diesel averaged $4.805. But both fuels remain substantially more expensive than they were one month and one year earlier.

Regular gas is down short term but still nearly $1 higher year over year

AAA’s Tulsa metro data shows regular gas down 12 cents from its weekly comparison. The average is also 50.6 cents higher than one month ago, when Tulsa regular gas averaged $3.265, and 99.4 cents higher than the same comparison last year, when the average was $2.777.

That longer-term gap can matter for commuters, households managing summer travel and workers whose jobs require regular trips across the Tulsa metro. Even a modest daily decline may not immediately offset the higher cost of routine driving.

Diesel remains close to $4.80 per gallon

Diesel’s daily movement was more limited. The Tulsa metro average fell from $4.805 to $4.797, while the weekly comparison declined about 4 cents from $4.838.

Longer-term comparisons remain steeper. Diesel is 73.8 cents higher than one month ago, when AAA listed the Tulsa average at $4.059, and $1.331 higher than a year ago, when it was $3.466. Those costs can weigh more heavily on delivery operators, contractors, farmers, service companies, restaurants that rely on deliveries and other businesses using diesel-powered vehicles or equipment.
