Sunnyvale-Area Gas Holds Near $5.63 as Diesel Rises

The daily change was small. Regular gas was down from the previous check’s $5.634 average, a difference of less than one cent per gallon. The broader weekly and monthly increases, however, keep fuel expenses elevated for people driving to work, school, appointments and errands.

Diesel moves higher after the last check

Diesel averaged $6.847 per gallon in the same San Jose metro data. The price rose 0.9 cents from the previous check, increased 4.8 cents over the past week and was 24.5 cents higher than one month earlier.

That matters beyond trucking. Diesel is commonly used by contractors, delivery operators, maintenance fleets, construction businesses and other service companies working throughout Sunnyvale and nearby communities. Higher operating costs can influence delivery expenses, service-call pricing and the cost of moving materials, although the available price data does not document specific local business reactions.
