Worcester Daily Brief — City Policy Update, Neighborhood Meetings, Winter Rules
Worcester, MA — February 6, 2026 — City leaders updated ICE policy rules, neighborhood meetings continue citywide, and winter parking rules remain in effect.
City updates ICE executive order policy
Worcester officials approved changes this week to the city’s executive order related to cooperation with federal immigration enforcement. The amended policy restricts the use of municipal property for staging federal immigration operations, reinforcing Worcester’s long-standing approach to local law enforcement independence.
City leaders said the update is meant to clarify how city resources may be used while maintaining compliance with state law. The change was announced Wednesday afternoon and takes effect immediately.
Neighborhood meetings continue across Worcester
Several neighborhood meetings are scheduled for today and throughout the coming week as part of the Worcester Police Department’s ongoing community outreach efforts. Residents in Lincoln Village and Webster Square met Thursday evening, with additional meetings planned in Tatnuck, Burncoat, Greendale, and Indian Lake.
City officials encourage residents to attend meetings in their neighborhoods to raise concerns, hear updates, and connect directly with police and city staff.
Winter parking rules still in place
While the most recent winter weather emergency and temporary parking ban were lifted at the end of January, Worcester’s permanent winter parking restrictions remain active through April 30. Overnight parking limits apply on emergency routes, bus routes, and major thoroughfares.
Residents are also reminded that sidewalk snow removal requirements remain in effect following any snowfall, even outside declared emergencies.
Looking ahead
With February underway, city departments are balancing winter operations with early planning for spring programs. More announcements are expected in the coming weeks as budget discussions and seasonal preparations continue.
