Georgia recorded $3.343 billion in total state revenues in September, an increase of $76.658 million, or 2.3%, from September 2025. Net sales and use taxes and corporate income-tax receipts rose, while individual income-tax receipts fell, according to the Georgia Department of Revenueโs monthly summary.
The Governorโs Office dated its September revenue release Oct. 14, 2026. The Department of Revenueโs comparative summary labels its figures unaudited and reports amounts in thousands; the figures below are converted to millions. The table distinguishes total state revenues from a separate state taxes-and-fees subtotal.
September collections moved in different directions
| Measure | September 2026 | Change from September 2025 |
|---|---|---|
| Total state revenues | $3,343.074 million | Up $76.658 million (2.3%) |
| State taxes and fees subtotal | $3,297.557 million | Up $74.053 million (2.3%) |
| Individual income tax | $1,423.906 million | Down $61.271 million (4.1%) |
| Net sales and use taxes | $839.750 million | Up $98.779 million (13.3%) |
| Corporate income tax | $680.559 million | Up $37.858 million (5.9%) |
| Motor-fuel taxes | $203.298 million | Down $0.422 million (0.2%) |
| Gross sales and use tax collections | $1,730.027 million | Up $136.797 million (8.6%) |
The $3.343 billion total and the $3.298 billion taxes-and-fees subtotal are separate measures in the stateโs table. Both rose 2.3% from a year earlier, but the subtotal was $45.517 million below total state revenues. The figures should not be described as though the total were the taxes-and-fees subtotal.
Among the listed September categories, net sales and use taxes had the largest percentage increase. Gross sales and use tax collections, a separately reported measure, rose 8.6%; the two sales-tax figures are not interchangeable. Corporate income-tax receipts increased by $37.858 million, while individual income-tax receipts declined by $61.271 million. Motor-fuel taxes edged down by 0.2%.
First-quarter fiscal 2027 revenues were up 2.9%
For the first three months of fiscal 2027, total state revenues reached $8.413 billion, compared with $8.172 billion in the same period of fiscal 2026. The increase was $240.228 million, or 2.9%. The state taxes-and-fees subtotal for the quarter was $8.247 billion, up 2.5% year over year.
The year-to-date category changes did not all match Septemberโs pattern. Through the first three months of fiscal 2027, individual income-tax receipts were down 1.2% from the same period a year earlier. Corporate income taxes were up 4.7%, and net sales and use taxes were up 9.4%. Those figures show the direction of collections across the quarter as well as the single-month result.
Capitol Beat reported that August net tax collections were 3.5% higher than a year earlier. That provides recent-month context, but the terms differ: the news report describes August as โnet tax collections,โ while the Department of Revenueโs September table labels its exact measure โtotal state revenues.โ
The September figures show which reported revenue categories increased or declined; they do not establish why collections changed or predict future revenue.
