Public safety: arrests and new charges
Authorities reported a string of arrests tied to violent-crime investigations this week, including four suspects taken into custody in separate homicide cases over roughly a 24-hour stretch. Officials said the arrests involved different agencies working together, with some suspects held on high bonds or without bond.
In a separate case, police said a warrant pickup for an aggravated-assault suspect turned into a larger investigation after officers reported finding hundreds of identification cards along with drugs, cash, and other items. More charges could follow as evidence is reviewed.
Police also described an incident in Southeast Memphis in which two masked suspects allegedly tried to take a running vehicle with children inside. Officers said the suspects were located nearby and arrested, and at least one child was treated for injuries.
