Memphis police say drone helped arrest 2 teens in Winchester Road robbery cases
Memphis police say a drone helped officers track and arrest two 18-year-olds after they fled near the Bank of America ATM at 6725 Winchester Road early July 14.
The Memphis Police Department identified the arrested individuals as Queshawn Partee and Jayvion Springfield. MPD said the pair was also linked to two aggravated robberies and an attempted aggravated robbery reported at the same location on July 8, July 10 and July 12.
The claims come from police statements and local reporting about the arrests. They are not findings of guilt, and the available defendant-specific court-record search did not confirm the current status of either case as of August 5, 2026.
Police describe drone-assisted pursuit
According to MPD, officers were conducting enforcement efforts near the ATM at about 1:47 a.m. when they saw two males wearing black clothing and hiding behind a dumpster south of the Bank of America location.
Police said the suspects moved toward people using the ATM in what appeared to be an attempted robbery. The patrons noticed them and fled before a robbery occurred, according to MPD. Police said the suspects then returned behind the dumpster while apparently waiting for additional victims.
When officers moved to detain them, MPD said both suspects ran. An officer deployed a drone, and the department said the live aerial feed allowed officers to maintain visual contact and coordinate the response. Police said officers arrested both suspects without further incident.
Action News 5 independently reported the July 14 arrests and described officers using a drone to track the suspects while other officers moved in.
Three Winchester Road investigations
MPD said its investigation linked Partee and Springfield to three incidents at 6725 Winchester Road:
- July 8: aggravated robbery
- July 10: criminal attempt to commit aggravated robbery
- July 12: aggravated robbery
Police also said officers recovered two firearms during the July 14 response.
MPD said Partee and Springfield, both 18, were each charged with two counts of aggravated robbery, one count of criminal attempt to commit aggravated robbery and three counts of possession of a firearm during the commission of a dangerous felony.
What is known about the case status
Action News 5 reported the same location, incident dates, suspects and charges in its July 15 report. MPD published its account on July 16, two days after the arrests.
No defendant-specific docket or charging document for Partee or Springfield was confirmed through the available court-record search by August 5. That means the current bond, hearing schedule and any later changes to the cases could not be independently established for this report.
