$355M VA Clinic Headed to Virginia Beach

City leaders this week announced a major investment in veterans’ health care: a $355 million U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs outpatient clinic planned for Virginia Beach.

The 180,000-square-foot facility is expected to create about 600 jobs and expand access to care for thousands of veterans across Hampton Roads. Officials said the clinic will be built near the Norfolk Premium Outlets and is projected to open in 2029.

The project was highlighted during the city’s 2026 State of the City address, where leaders emphasized economic growth, agriculture and support for the region’s large military community.

City Leaders Outline Growth Priorities

During the annual address, Mayor Bobby Dyer and City Manager Patrick Duhaney pointed to agriculture as a steady economic driver, contributing hundreds of millions annually and preserving thousands of acres through the city’s agricultural reserve program.

They also underscored the city’s deep military ties and ongoing efforts to attract new investment and entertainment events in the year ahead.
