Aurora, IL — February 3, 2026 — Aurora police are investigating a fatal single-vehicle crash that occurred on February 2, 2025, near the intersection of Illinois Route 59 and Meridian Parkway. The incident resulted in the death of a 32-year-old male driver.
Details of the Incident
At approximately 3:45 a.m., the driver, who had recently moved to Aurora, was traveling southbound on Route 59 when he lost control of his 2018 Jaguar XE. The vehicle veered off the roadway and struck a light pole on the west side of Route 59. The impact caused the driver to be ejected from the vehicle, leading to life-threatening injuries. Despite immediate medical aid and transportation to Rush Copley Medical Center, the driver was pronounced deceased at 4:43 a.m.

The Aurora Police Department’s Traffic Division is conducting a thorough investigation into the crash. Portions of the roadway remained closed for several hours as investigators worked to reconstruct the scene. The City of Aurora’s Emergency Management Agency (EMA) and other support services were notified due to damage to the light pole.
