A large power outage swept through parts of downtown Henderson late Saturday night, leaving traffic signals dark and neighborhoods without electricity for roughly an hour.
Residents near Water Street, Cadence and surrounding areas reported widespread outages beginning around 8:30 p.m. NV Energy later indicated the disruption was caused by a Mylar balloon that interfered with equipment, temporarily cutting service to thousands of customers.
While some neighborhoods retained power, others experienced flickering lights and fully darkened intersections. Drivers were seen cautiously navigating four-way stops where signals were out. Service was largely restored before 10 p.m.
The incident highlights the city’s continued growth and the importance of grid reliability as Henderson’s population and commercial footprint expand.
