Frisco Daily Local Headlines (Feb. 27, 2026)
Frisco, TX – February 27, 2026 – King Road widening kicks off, Frisco ISD leadership honored, and the Frisco Classic begins at Riders Field.
King Road widening breaks ground
Denton County marked the start of an $11.5 million project to widen King Road from Witt Road to Rose Lane, a corridor that runs through Frisco, Hackberry and Little Elm. The rebuild is planned to convert the roadway from a two-lane rural route into a four-lane urban connector aimed at easing congestion and improving safety as traffic grows.
County officials said construction is expected to begin in early March, with completion targeted for summer 2027. The county is contributing $6 million, and the work is designed to strengthen access to the Dallas North Tollway and surrounding neighborhoods.
Frisco ISD: calendar relief and leadership transition
Frisco ISD reported that its state waiver request tied to winter-weather closures has been granted, meaning the district will not need to use bad-weather makeup days for the missed time. The district also shared an update on its superintendent search, saying trustees expect to name a lone finalist in March as the process moves through final interview rounds.
Office space: new tenant buzz near HALL Park
A major national confectionery company is reported to be adding a corporate outpost in Frisco, leasing space in the HALL Park area. For residents, the practical impact is familiar: more daytime workers near local dining and parks, plus another signal that Frisco’s office market continues to attract big-brand tenants.
Weekend calendar: Frisco College Baseball Classic opens
Riders Field is set to host the Frisco College Baseball Classic Feb. 27 through March 1, bringing in NCAA Division I teams from Alabama, Oregon State, Iowa and Houston. If you’re headed that way, plan for a busier entertainment district and give yourself extra time for parking and exits around game start times.
