Henderson Daily Brief: Water pipeline bill advances, springlike heat, Silver Knights weekend split

Water reliability: major pipeline bill moves to the president

A long-discussed Southern Nevada water project took a big step forward as Congress approved legislation tied to a second water transmission line planned beneath federally protected land south of the valley. The project is aimed at boosting redundancy and long-term reliability for the south side of the region, with Henderson frequently cited in the discussion because of potential routing and growth pressures.

What residents should watch next: federal action to finalize the authorization, followed by the long runway of design, environmental work, and construction planning before anything changes on the ground.

Weather: springlike warmth now, cooler and windier patterns ahead

After a stretch of unusually warm late-winter weather across the valley, the forecast continues to lean warmer than normal around Henderson, with breezy periods in the mix. Forecasters also point to a cooler, more unsettled pattern later in the week, which could mean a noticeable drop from the weekend’s warmth.

If you’re planning outdoor time, it’s a good window to do it, but keep an eye on wind and the midweek cooldown.

Silver Knights: strong Saturday win, then a Sunday shootout loss

Henderson’s AHL club delivered a solid home performance Saturday, using special teams to help secure a 4-2 win over the Colorado Eagles at Lee’s Family Forum. On Sunday, the teams ran it back in a tighter game that went all the way to a shootout, where Henderson fell 4-3.

The weekend split keeps the local schedule feeling busy as the season pushes toward the spring stretch.
