Henderson, NV – March 5, 2026 – City Hall tensions spill into court, new e-bike and scooter safety rules take effect, and Bark in the Park adoptions return.
Top local headlines
1) Council lawsuit adds to City Hall turbulence
A new civil lawsuit between two Henderson City Council members is putting fresh attention on the city’s already-fraught political climate. Councilwoman Carrie Cox alleges Councilman Jim Seebock struck her arm multiple times before a March 2024 meeting during a dispute tied to the selection of a mayor pro tem. Seebock has denied wrongdoing and called the filing a political move. City officials said the case is a private dispute between elected officials, not a city matter.
The lawsuit also lands while Cox remains involved in a separate criminal case stemming from allegations she recorded a private conversation without consent. That case is currently slated for trial on Oct. 19, 2026.
2) Henderson tightens safety rules for e-bikes and scooters
The City Council adopted updates to the municipal code aimed at reducing risky riding and bringing Henderson’s micromobility rules in line with nearby jurisdictions. Key changes include a helmet requirement for riders under 18, a crackdown on reckless behaviors such as stunts and wheelies, and clearer enforcement tools for devices that don’t belong on public roads, trails, or sidewalks.
One of the most talked-about updates: parents can be held financially responsible for certain violations committed by minors, and officers may impound electric motorcycles being operated illegally.
3) This weekend: low-cost pet adoptions at Bark in the Park
If you’ve been thinking about adding a pet to the family, Henderson Animal Protection Services is planning a pop-up adoption event at Bark in the Park. The mobile trailer is scheduled to be on site from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., with adoptions starting at $25. Payments are expected to be cash or check only.
