Henderson Police Crackdown Results, New Casino Opening Date, and Weekend Wind Advisory

Henderson is heading into mid-March with a mix of public safety updates, business news, and a look back at last weekend’s blustery weather.

No DUI Arrests in Traffic Crackdown

The Henderson Police Department wrapped up its latest Joining Forces traffic enforcement campaign, and notably, officers made no DUI arrests during the effort.

Between Feb. 6 and Feb. 22, officers stopped 277 drivers. Most citations were for speeding and intersection violations, along with other traffic-related offenses. The department received grant funding to support the high-visibility patrols, which are designed to reduce impaired driving and serious crashes.

While no DUI arrests were made, police say the campaign still plays an important role in reminding drivers to make safe choices behind the wheel.

Cadence Crossing Casino Opening March 25

A major addition to Henderson’s Boulder Highway corridor now has an official opening date. Cadence Crossing Casino will celebrate its grand opening on Wednesday, March 25.

The new neighborhood casino replaces Joker’s Wild at the same site and will feature more than 450 slot machines, dining options, a center bar, and a lounge. City leaders and company executives are expected to attend a morning ribbon-cutting ceremony before doors open to the public at noon.

The project is seen as a boost for the fast-growing Cadence area, where residential development continues to expand.

Strong Winds Sweep Through Valley

Residents also dealt with gusty conditions over the weekend as a wind advisory covered the Las Vegas Valley, including Henderson. Forecasters warned of gusts up to 45 mph on March 7, creating difficult driving conditions and the potential for minor power outages.

While the advisory has since expired, the reminder was clear: spring weather in Southern Nevada can shift quickly, especially for high-profile vehicles on open roadways.
