Anchorage police said Oct. 26 they had no indication that the Oct. 24 collision involving Mary Peltola and family members was a targeted attack, and had no new information to share. APD community-relations director Gina Romero gave the update to Alaska Beacon.
That Oct. 26 statement addressed whether police had indications of targeting; it did not determine the collisionโs cause or fault. APDโs Oct. 25 bulletin said the circumstances were under investigation. The Associated Press reported no citations had been issued as of midday Monday.
Officers responded at about 6:55 p.m. to the three-vehicle collision at OโMalley Road and Lake Otis Parkway in Anchorage. APDโs preliminary account said a westbound vehicle hit the rear of a second vehicle stopped at a traffic light, which then collided with a third. Occupants of the second vehicle, including Peltola, and the first vehicleโs sole occupant were taken to a local hospital with non-life-threatening injuries; the third vehicleโs occupant declined medical transport.
