Anchorage gas eases again while diesel stays costly: AAA price check for June 27, 2026
Anchorage AK Gas & Diesel Watch – AAA’s June 27 check shows regular gas at $4.887/gal and diesel at $5.466/gal, both down from yesterday and last week.
AAA’s latest Anchorage metro averages are moving in the right direction for drivers buying regular gas, with diesel easing too—but diesel still remains the bigger wallet-stressor compared with a year ago. For Saturday, June 27, 2026 (AAA price as of 6/27/26), regular is $4.887/gal and diesel is $5.466/gal.
Regular gas: lower today and down across most recent timeframes
Regular gas in Anchorage is down compared with yesterday, June 26, when AAA listed $4.921/gal. It’s also lower than last week ($5.003/gal) and last month ($5.225/gal).
The key contrast: despite today’s easing, regular is still higher than last year. AAA shows $3.650/gal one year ago versus $4.887/gal today.
Compared with the last site fuel-price check from June 23, regular is also down again (AAA listed $4.994/gal on 6/23).
Diesel: down from yesterday, but still far above last year
Diesel in Anchorage is slightly lower than yesterday, June 26 when AAA listed $5.487/gal. AAA also shows diesel easing versus last week ($5.588/gal) and last month ($5.846/gal).
However, diesel’s year-over-year gap remains large. AAA lists $3.880/gal at this time last year, compared with $5.466/gal today.
Diesel is also down again versus the last site fuel-price check from June 23 (AAA listed $5.585/gal on 6/23).
How Anchorage easing lines up with the U.S. week
EIA’s weekly retail fuel update (released June 23, covering the week of June 22) shows U.S. prices moving in the same broad direction: regular gasoline averaged $3.914/gal and on-highway diesel averaged $4.832/gal for that week. EIA also shows both were lower than the prior week (U.S. regular down from $4.052; diesel down from $5.059). Because EIA’s figures are national weekly averages and include taxes, they aren’t interchangeable with Anchorage’s daily metro pump pricing—but they do fit the same “less expensive than the prior week” theme.
Practical takeaways for Anchorage drivers and businesses
Even small day-to-day changes can matter when you drive often, commute for work, or run deliveries. For example, compared with yesterday, regular is down by $0.034/gal on AAA’s metro average—so a 20-gallon fill would come out about $0.68 lower based on the average move. Diesel is down by $0.021/gal, which would be about $0.42 on a 20-gallon fill.
For contractors and fleet operators, the steadier point is diesel’s year-over-year level: budgeting for higher diesel costs is still the safer approach than assuming prices will quickly “snap back” to last year’s numbers. And for anyone trying to stretch fuel budgets, the average won’t tell the whole story—checking prices across a few stations still has value, especially if you’re fueling multiple vehicles or making multiple trips this weekend.
