On February 3, 2026, a tragic incident occurred on the southbound lanes of the 5 Freeway near Gene Autry Way in Anaheim. A pedestrian was reported walking in the freeway’s southbound lanes around 12:45 a.m. Shortly after, authorities received reports of a person down in the northbound lanes. Despite prompt response from the California Highway Patrol and Orange City Fire Department, the pedestrian was pronounced dead at the scene. The identity of the victim has not been released, and investigations are ongoing to determine the circumstances leading to the incident.

Fatal Crash on La Veta Avenue in Orange

Earlier, on January 23, 2026, a fatal crash occurred on La Veta Avenue near Batavia Street in Orange. A BMW traveling eastbound veered off the road and struck a pole around 3:15 a.m., splitting the vehicle in half. The passenger, 21-year-old Adriana Flores, was pronounced dead at the scene.
